In his talk, Peter Russell will argue that Canadas distinct nature arises from the dynamic between its three foundational pillars: French Canada, Aboriginal Canada and English-speaking Canada. To understand Canada at 150, we must widen the perspective to our last 250 years.

In honour of Canadas Sesquicentennial and supported by Innis College, Peter Russell and his family have launched The Russell Canada Prize. The Russell Canada Prize will be awarded annually to an undergraduate student to reflect the work of Peter H. Russell and encourage students to seek out, as he did, the unique character of our country. The prize will be awarded for an outstanding production on some aspect of Canada in the form of a coursework e.g., essay or other creative work, such as a poem, play, film, short story, painting, or photograph.
