An Afternoon with Hildegard of Bingen
A 12th century German nun, Hildegard of Bingen was an extraordinary woman, who experienced visions in her early 40s that led to one of the most prolific creative outpourings in history. She was a visionary, poet, composer, doctor, theologian, abbess, cosmologist. The event includes a 50-min. documentary, being screened in Canada for the first time; live performance of Hildegard's compositions by the a capella group Schola Magdalena; a panel discussion with author Teri Degler, York music prof. Stephanie Martin, and medieval art expert Rebecca Golding. Sunday, Sept. 20, 3:30 p.m., Revue Cinema. Tickets: $13 on Eventbrite; $15 door.
