An Afternoon with Emily Carr
In another in the Extraordinary Women series at the Revue Cinema, film director Michael Ostroff introduces his documentary Winds of Heaven about the eccentric and driven B.C. artist Emily Carr. He will be joined by art historian Gerta Moray for a discussion and Q&A after the film. Ostroff has woven together Carr’s own words, images of her work and of the forests and landscapes that inspired her, , remarkable archival footage of West Coast First Nations communities, and comments from art critics as he probes the painter’s complex character, her challenging life and her relationship with native culture. Buy tickets in advance on Eventbrite: $13 online for the general public, $10 for seniors and Revue members. $14 and $11 at the door. Proceeds from the Extraordinary Women series support local not-for-profit Back Lane Studios’ video-making programs for students. (Visit backlanestudios.ca)
