The Creative Kids After School Art Club is a four week after school art program for kids 6-12 years old. The Club encourages creativity, elevates confidence, and enhances artistic learning. Kids will also make new friends and have fun while learning new creative skills.

In this after school session, we will focus on fun, introductory and creative concepts of painting. Kids will learn some of the fundamentals of artistic development explore acrylic paint and water colours and have fun exploring texture to bring dimension to their artwork.

The After School Creative Art Club has sessions on Wednesdays. Sessions begin at 4:00 pm and run until 5:15 pm. All of our Creative Kids will receive a sketch book and pencils for their session. They will also get a Creative Kids’ Art Club T-shirt at the end of the program!

Week One: Painting Using Negative Space and Shape Design

Kids will create unique paintings on canvas using negative space and creative shapes. This session will encourage kids to explore using complimentary colours and introduce the colour wheel.

Week Two: Creating Abstract Art Using Shapes

Kids will create abstract art using shapes and vibrant colour. They will learn about simple layering techniques for acrylic painting by painting in a background and developing simple foreground images.

Week Three: Watercolour Painting and Collage

Kids will create an abstract landscape using water colour paper, paints and collaging. A creative way for budding artists to explore texture and colour.

Week Four: Exploring Texture

Kids will explore adding textured art mediums to their artwork to add dimension to their creativity. Kids will experiment with mediums such as modelling paste to add dimension and texture to their artwork.

The 2019 Art Club starts on Wednesday, January 23. Classes will follow on January 30, February 6 and February 13.

The cost for the 4-week program is $120+HST - pick up time - 5:15pm.

Drop ins are welcome: $35 +HST per session.
