5 Steps to Creating an Urban Ecosystem
Join Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates and Waterfront Toronto for a presentation about Port Lands Flood Protection.
The Port Lands is human-made land where once one of Ontario’s largest freshwater marshes thrived. This was the mouth of the Don River, which flowed naturally into Toronto's Inner Harbour. A century of lakefilling has left the river with one unnatural, concrete outlet, putting over 200 hectares of Toronto's downtown at risk of flooding. To undo this, we'll combine nature and engineering. Learn how we’ll revive this natural system and create a meandering river valley that is more than meets the eye.
