416 Light Up The Night
In response to the ongoing incidences of violence throughout the city, a diverse group of individuals representing the theatre, film, and TV community are staging an outdoor gathering at Withrow Park at 8:30pm on Tuesday, July 31. Residents of Toronto, the GTA, and beyond are invited, and are encouraged to bring a flashlight or candle to light up the night in unison once the sun has set.
The lighting ceremony will be led by proud Toronto residents Colin Mochrie (Whose Line is it Anyway?) and Aurora Browne (Baroness Von Sketch Show, The Second City). "The flashlights and candles will represent our wish to reignite the flames of love, unity, and compassion in our individual and collective hearts," notes organizer Geraldine Ronan, a Toronto-based actor.
"This event is non-political for us," adds casting director Steve Mann, who's serving as co-organizer. "This isn’t about gun laws, race, immigration, religion, or anything other than love, hope, and healing. This is our response to the recent gun violence in our beloved city."
Geraldine Ronan and Steve Mann are available for queries and press interviews.
