Going strong 94 years, this year the OCADSU Beaux Art Costume Ball presents:
MAKE IT WERK - A BLACK LIGHT AFFAIR!
This is OCAD's 'you survived the academic year! now come let lose!' annual party! This year we are going all out!
Compete in the Unconventional Runway Challenge - $300 worth of prizes to be won!
Show up with a high end fashion look made of unconventional materials that fits into one of the following categories:
Recycled plastics
Electronics & electronic accessories
Food packaging
Bonus: If it is enhanced by black light!
Be prepared to walk the runway!
Our fabulous panel of judges includes:
Emily Gove - artist, curator, Value Village personal shopper and the Director of Xpace Cultural Centre.
Genevive Wallen - Genevieve Wallen is a programming coordinator at Xpace with a soft spot for chubby cats, as well as being the proud guardian a plump cat named Oprah. She is also passionate about thrifting and believes that it's a lifestyle. Before dreaming about being a curator, she dreamt of being a fashion designer.
Derek Li - second year Industrial Design student who lives and breathes fashion. Organizer of OCADU's upcoming wearable art and tech fashion show with expensive taste and student budgets.
Myk Tuciap - F a s h i o n. E l e g a n c e. L u x u r i o u s. G l a m o u r. I just like to dress pretty and izz like obssed with 80-90s fashion. I love my designers. I kinda sew and dress nice. Just look for me.
There will be light sculptures brought to you by ever talented OCADers Camille Rauton & Lauren Porter.
There will be a Speaker's Corner to share & record what you love about OCAD/ your experience at OCAD/ your suggestions for improving OCAD/ your fave life hacks for surviving OCAD - whatever. We will be video taping your thoughts & consolidating them into a final video. Also by talented OCAD duo Camille Rauton & Lauren Porter.
The Library will be open! From 9 - 10:30PM, OCAD CCP graduate Miss Kiera channels the original queen Miss Cleo offering up free reads and spiritual guidance. Miss Kiera depends on the power of the stars to see your truth. Sign ups for a read will be on site so show up on time to book your spot!
