Popular Toronto brunch restaurant finally expands to a new neighbourhood

Six years after opening, a go-to Toronto brunch restaurant has finally expanded to a new area of the city.

If a restaurant that opened in January of 2020 was able to not only survive, but thrive through the events that would follow just two months later — events that killed a significant number of other restaurants — that's as good a sign as any that it's doing something right.

Ask any of MIA Brunch Bar's vocal Midtown fans, and they'll confirm it.

Immediately upon opening in the early days of 2020, the restaurant made a major splash in the neighbourhood thanks to its intimate dining room and upscale menu. Though I'm partial to a greasy spoon myself, there's no arguing that luxe brunch experiences hit the spot for plenty of people.

In the six years since, the restaurant has grown into nothing short of a local staple.

With such a strong follower base, expansion seemed written in the stars, and as of June 5, the restaurant has opened its long-awaited sister location.

This time, the team has eschewed its Yonge and Eglinton stomping grounds in favour of something further south, this time setting up shop in the Yonge and College area.

The new location boasts all the MIA staples Toronto folk know and love, from loaded eggs Benedict to cornflake-crusted French toast. Of course, if you prefer not to venture south of Bloor, you can always visit the original location, too.

MIA Brunch Bar's new location can be found at 21 Grenville St.
