Popular salad kit sold in stores across Canada recalled due to contamination

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has recalled certain Taylor Farms Sweet Kale Chopped salad kits in several parts of Canada due to possible salmonella contamination.

The brand can be found at many grocery stores, including Costco, Walmart, and Sobeys.

If you suspect you have an affected kit, cross-check the UPC and best-before dates with the table below:

This recall is in effect in Quebec, Ontario, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, and New Brunswick.

"Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections," the CFIA shared.

"Healthy people may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Long-term complications may include severe arthritis."

If you've consumed a recalled product and think you might have gotten sick, contact your doctor. Never eat, serve, use, sell, or distribute recalled products. Simply throw them out or return them to the store you bought them from.

Earlier this year, another salad kit from the maker was recalled due to listeria concerns.

Costco warned customers who had bought the brand's Mexican Style Street Corn Chopped Salad Kit not to eat it.

As of February 2024, two people had died in the U.S., and 23 had to be hospitalized from consuming it.

In November, the CFIA also recalled certain lots of SunFed Produce whole fresh American cucumbers, which were distributed in Ontario, Alberta, B.C., and Saskatchewan.

Organic carrots were recalled twice in the same month because of E-coli concerns.
