Man accosts Ontario restaurant staff after alleged dine and dash attempt in viral video

Internet sleuths are seeking out an individual who allegedly accosted staff at an Ontario restaurant after being confronted by staff for attempting to run out on his bill.

Finishing up a meal and being confronted with the sticker shock of your indulgent wining and dining can make even the most honest among us contemplate the old 'dine-and-dash' approach, but one man is getting put on blast for his behaviour after being confronted for doing exactly that.

Social media personality and content creator Michael McWhorter, known online by his handle @tizzyent has amassed a following of a whopping 6.5 million on TikTok — not to mention an additional combined 1.1 million on Instagram and X) thanks to his videos which largely centre around platforming individuals caught behaving badly (whether through violence, ignorance or general rude behaviour,) and leveraging his audience to find them.

Recently, Ontario came under McWhorter's spotlight, when the creator uploaded a video showing a man, accompanied by a woman and child, accosting a server at a restaurant in Blue Mountain Village after allegedly attempting to leave without paying their bill.

"I'll f***ing knock you the f**k out," the man yells at a waiter in the video, visibly agitated, "you don't know me."

McWhorter goes on to explain that, after dining at a restaurant in Blue Mountain, which has since been identified as Magnone's Italian Kitchen, the family allegedly walked out without paying their $350 bill.

According to McWhorter, the person who was actually serving the family was afraid to confront them directly, so a different server who was physically larger in stature was sent out to ask them to pay.

It's undisclosed whether the video was filmed by a passerby, another patron at the restaurant or a fellow member of staff at Magnone's.

McWhorter then shows further video clips of the confrontation, where the man approaches the server, hurling insults.

"You're a b***h, that's what you are," the man yells, "f**k you."

Just one day after the video was posted on McWhorter's social media accounts, Magnone's commented on McWhorter's Instagram post that the situation had been resolved.

"Thank you everyone for your efforts to locate these individuals," they write, confirming that the individuals in the video had since apologized and paid their bill.

"Thank you for doing the right thing [and] let's choose to be kinder to each other," they add.
