Charges laid after video of man accosting staff at Ontario restaurant goes viral

The OPP have laid charges against an Ontario man who went viral this week for hurling threats and insults at restaurant staff after being confronted when he attempted to leave without paying his bill.

Just days after a video of an Ontario man accosting a server at Magnone's Italian Kitchen went viral across social media platforms, the OPP have announced that the man will now be facing two criminal charges for his behaviour.

Brought to the surface by internet personality Michael McWhorter, who goes by @tizzyent online, the video depicts a heated argument between the man, who has been identified as a 38-year-old from Brampton, and one of the restaurant's servers after the server allegedly went out to confront the man for skipping out on his $350 bill.

"I'll f***ing knock you the f**k out," the man yells at the waiter in the video, "you don't know me."

While, according to Magnone's (and later confirmed by the OPP), the man in the video later returned to the restaurant to apologize and pay his bill, he's now facing criminal charges of assault and uttering threats to do bodily harm due to his behaviour in the video.

The accused is set to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in late October, and anyone with further information about the incident to contact them.

At the time of publication, the video of the incident has amassed more than 3 million views across McWhorter's TikTok, Instagram and X accounts.
