Toronto restaurant with suspiciously adult logo has become something else
A Kensington Market restaurant that raised eyebrows for suddenly changing its name and logo into one inspired by an adult video website earlier this summer has apparently closed for good.
The prime Augusta Avenue location that used to house Fake Bus, formerly Shawarma Bus, is now a new Turkish spot called Gold Bingol, which at first may look like another hasty rebrand from the same owners.
But, management tells blogTO that they recently took over the address and are approaching the business with fresh eyes — and a new menu of classic dishes from Turkey.

Specializing in doner kebab, Turkish desserts and pan dishes, and barbecued eats, owners say the food is far different from the wraps and hamburgers that Shawarma Bus (and FakeBus) was known for.
Starters include classics like babaganoush and acili ezme (a finely chopped spicy tomato salad), saksuka and meze, to be followed by house spiced and grilled lamb, beef and chicken dishes like beyti sarma and tavuk tava.
"What is important to us is the quality," they told blogTO this week just days after opening in mid-August. They also say they are new to the business in general, but are "confident in this sector" and that they will do well in the market.
Their curbside outdoor patio, a new addition, was already full of customers when we visited. Here's to hoping the business, which seems like it has a lot of thought and intention behind each item and detail, is able to distinguish itself from both Shawarma/Fake Bus and other Turkish spots in the area.
