Huge Asian night market is coming to Toronto's waterfront

One of Toronto's most highly-anticipated events of the summer, the Waterfront Night Market (WNMFEST), returns to the city next month.

From Aug 9 to 11, the Stanley Barracks at Hotel X will be taken over by an explosion of pan-Asian culture, from live performances and floating lanterns to street food stalls as far as the eye can see.

Now in their 15th season, WNMFEST is devoted to celebrating the diversity and vibrancy of the Asian community in Toronto and around the world through a myriad of arts — both contemporary and traditional.

This year's WNMFEST also celebrates the Qixi Festival, which honours the seventh day of the seventh month on the Chinese calendar, so expect even more special events highlighting Chinese heritage.

All weekend long, you'll be able to stroll the signature pan-Asian food festival, where you can find some of the tastiest cuisine from Korea, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam and many, many more.

You can explore specialized areas like Wine and Wok or Fusion Alley, or simply follow the drool-inducing scents to find your next snack.

It's not only about the food, though — the festival also hosts the Kre8ions Artisan Showcase, where you can shop goods from a slew of local and international vendors.

Finally, set an intention before sending off your floating lantern in the venue's pool, backed by the sounds of live music and DJ sets by all-Asian talent.

The festival all kicks off at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug 9, and runs from 4 p.m. to 12 a.m. on Aug. 10 and 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Aug. 11. The event is 19+ on Friday and Saturday, with attendees of all ages welcome to join in on Sunday, Aug 11.

Ticket prices range by day of the festival from $17 to $25 for general admission and $30 to $45 for VIP access. You can also opt for a pass that'll grant you access to all three days of the festival starting at $55.

Tickets are on sale now through Waterfront Night Market's website.
