Toronto bakery is giving away hundreds of free patties before they close for good

A Toronto bakery is about to close down for good, but they're giving away hundreds of patties to say thank you before that happens.

Leaside bakeshop, Phamilyeats, broke the hearts of their many devoted customers earlier this summer when they announced that, after three years, they'd be closing down their brick-and-mortar bakeshop.

Responsible for some of the best Jamaican patties in Toronto, Phamilyeats founder, Peter Pham, started the business as a pandemic project, but when the word got out, it quickly blossomed into a full-fledged business, selling patties alongside pot pies.

Set to have their last day in business on July 28, Peter recently took to the bakery's Instagram account to announce that they'll be giving out free patties for that entire day to give back to the customers that supported the business from the beginning.

"We're handing out free patties this Sunday, 11 [a.m.] to 5 [p.m.] as a token of appreciation to everyone who showed us love, new and old," Peter says in the video.

"Please come by, we'd love to see you," he adds.

If you'd like to get your hands on some free patties this weekend — or simply show your support and say goodbye to the beloved neighbourhood business — you can stop by Phamilyeats' location at 858 Eglinton East between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 28.

After that, you may not be able to pick up Peter's fabulous patties in store, but you will be able to find him at select markets and pop-ups around the city.

Keep an eye on Phamilyeats' social media to keep up with where they'll be next.
