Restaurant known for its steak opening new Toronto location
A Toronto restaurant that serves some of the best steak frites in the city is opening a brand new location this month.
Since 2021, West Queen West steakhouse (or, perhaps it would be more apt to say steak frites house,) J's Steak Frites has been serving up some of the best steak frites in Toronto — and they're about to give the city a new spot to dine on the French dish.
The restaurant, founded by owner Jad Sfeir and his wife, head pastry chef Tara Tang, firmly believes in doing one thing really, really well, and that one thing, it should come as no surprise, is a steaming, decadent plate of steak, fries and salad.
After operating for three years in their original location at 1198 Queen West, the business is now expanding with a new location near College and Bathurst, taking over the space that used to house Quadro Ristorante.
Following the tradition of the original J's Steak Frites restaurant, the new location will also feature just one menu item: a fresh green salad and housemade bread, a 10oz AAA NY Striploin, unlimited frites and special butter sauce — along with a dessert menu of sweet treats created by Tara.
The College location will also boast a brand-new cocktail menu, bar seating for six, a huge, lush back garden patio and Parisian-style street seating for drinks and dessert only.
In the wake of the sudden closure and current relocation limbo of Miss Aida, one of Jad's other Toronto restaurant concepts, the new J's location comes as happy news — though there's still no news on when, where or if Miss Aida will be making a comeback.
The exact opening date of J's Steak Frites' new location has yet to be determined, but a representative from the business confirms that it will be opening its doors this month.
J's Steak Frites' latest location will open at 577 College, but in the meantime, their original location remains open for business.
