Toronto cafe known for its unique drinks is permanently closing

A Toronto cafe that's known for its sweet treats, drinks and cutesy interiors is closing for good.

For four years, Dundas West coffee shop and boutique, Fantastic, Baby! has been a leader in the city for curating Korean beauty products and K-Pop merchandise alongside offering cakes and baked goods that are almost too-cute-to-eat.

Goodies like Dalgona coffee, bubble tea, mochi and delicate mousse cakes are on frequent rotation there, accompanying shelves of imported snacks, colourful stuffed animals and home goods.

The cafe was also known for hosting regular K-Pop events, with themed food and drinks, photo-ops and giveaways, serving as a sort of hub for Toronto's community of fans.

After surviving a Covid-era launch and the difficulties that have transpired for plenty of small businesses in the years following, though, the shop has announced it'll be closing permanently later this summer.

"Lifelong passions and family are calling to me," the shop's owner writes in the caption of the post, "and I must respond by changing my path and closing the cafe."

The caption then goes on to thank everyone who's been involved in Fantastic, Baby! since the beginning — including people who, according to the post, travelled from all over Canada specifically to check out the shop.

"I am going to miss so much of the cafe," the caption reads. "It was born out of love, run with love and we close with love!"

It's not too late to stop by and say one last goodbye to Fantastic, Baby!, according to the post, the shop and cafe will still be open and operating as usual until Aug 10 at 6 p.m., when they'll be closing out this chapter for good. The post even teases an upcoming sale to clear out the shop before it closes.

Fantastic, Baby! Cafe is located at 1193 Dundas West.
