Second downtown location of new grocery store is coming to Toronto

A small grocery store chain that has a handful of locations in the GTA is expanding with two new stores in downtown Toronto, and the neighbourhoods that they'll be in have now been revealed by new signage at the sites.

BestCo Fresh Foods will complement its existing supermarkets in Scarborough, Etobicoke, and Ajax with its very first stores in Toronto's city centre: one at the corner of Adelaide and Peter streets, which was confirmed at the beginning of this month, and one at Bathurst and Bloor.

While the former outpost will occupy the lower level of a 47-storey condo tower that just went up at 350 Adelaide, the second appears to be going into the new Mirvish Village development at the southwest corner of Bloor and Bathurst.

Alongside an LCBO and other unknown retail tenants on the ground floor of the old Honest Ed's property, BestCo will offer the gamut of whole and pre-packaged, fresh, and frozen foods and ingredients, with a focus on specialty Asian products that can be otherwise hard to get in the city, as it is known for.

Owners of the brand have built it with the aim to become "the embodiment of multiculturalism in Canada" and to bring diverse communities an array of high-quality foods "that satisfy both a longing for comfort and a search for novelty."

It is unclear when either of the new downtown T.O. stores will open, but we will surely be hearing about it from those in the area as soon as they make their debut.
