Hotly-anticipated food hall finally opens in Toronto next week

One of Toronto's most-anticipated new food halls is finally opening to the public next week, and it's set to feature some of the city's hottest food and beverage vendors.

Waterworks Food Hall, an ambitious concept built into the historic Waterworks building redevelopment at 499 Richmond West, has been garnering hype ever since the project was announced — and it's almost ready to open its doors.

The enormous 55,000-square-foot food hall, housed in the Art Deco-style building, will house over 20 curated food vendors, and familiar Toronto hotspots will populate kiosks in droves.

Little India staple Harry's Charbroiled, Turkish bakery Liu Loqum Atelier, Roncesvalles ramen spot Musoshin, and dessert-bar empire Demetre's were all among the early announcements.

However, along with the official opening date, the food hall has announced even more exciting residents.

Island Oysters will soon call Waterworks Food Hall home, along with Otto's Berlin Doner, Bloorcourt Vietnamese spot Vit Beo, and London, Ontario-based Thai chain, Soi Thaifoon, among others.

The food hall is also already home to the latest iteration of celebrity chef Susur Lee's Lee Restaurant, whose last location will soon be taken over by a swanky new Earl's location set to open on Friday, June 28.

Waterworks Food Hall will officially open to the public on Wednesday, July 3 at 11 a.m., ready to serve scores of Toronto foodies on their lunch break.
