Toronto restaurant's rebrand looks suspiciously similar to an adult website's logo

A restaurant in Toronto's Kensington Market has just undergone a seemingly random rebrand that passersby are finding absolutely hilarious, given where the owners may or may not have taken their inspiration.

What was formerly known as Shawarma Bus at 198 Augusta Avenue is now Fake Bus, complete with a logo that looks almost identical to that of a certain NSFW site (and adult video category) of a similar name.

A resident posted about the uncanny likeness between the two on Reddit this week, sharing a photo of the Turkish spot's new logo alongside that of the website in question.

The two use almost indistinguishable fonts, colour schemes and overall designs, differing only in the type of vehicle in the name.

blogTO went to investigate firsthand on Thursday and found that the location was indeed rechristened "about a week ago," according to the sole employee present at the time.

The relaunch has extended onto the business's social media accounts as well, though its website and in-person menus retain the Shawarma Bus branding.

The first post at the @fakebuskensington Instagram handle using the new name appeared on June 14. Google reviews for Shawarma Bus only go back to three months ago, while Fake Bus has not yet been recognized by Google Maps.

The worker did not comment on why owners opted for a new name and logo, though said as much with a bit of a smile on his face. The business has yet to reply to blogTO's request for an explanation about the new name, its origins and its potential connection (coincidental or intentional) to the aforementioned site.
