Toronto to get fancy new event venue perched 68 floors above the city

One of Toronto's tallest buildings will soon host a grand new event space on its uppermost floor.

Scotia Plaza's owners, KingSett Capital, have announced plans to partner with restaurateur and caterer Oliver & Bonacini Hospitality to transform the top floor of the iconic office tower into what is promising to be one of the city's premiere event spaces.

KingSett revealed this week that the entire 68th (and highest) floor of the distinctive red granite Postmodern office tower will become a new 20,000-square-foot Oliver & Bonacini event space, opening by June 2025.

The conversion will see O&B manage and operate the new space, which will include a 10,000-square-foot meeting and event area available to rent out, as well as an equally-sized amenity area with panoramic city views that will be exclusively for use by tenants of the office building.

The converted floor is being designed for custom configurations that will allow events like conferences, town halls, classroom-style learning, corporate social events and lavish wedding parties capable of hosting up to 250 guests.

While just about anyone will be able to rent out this space on the northern half of the floor, the southern half — offering views south towards the lake — will only be available to tenants of Scotia Plaza.

This half of the floor will feature a luxury cafe and bar described in a press release as "outfitted in warm woods, rich stones and steel blue accents."

All events would offer exclusive catering by O&B Catering.

"We are thrilled to bring our signature brand of hospitality and restaurant-quality food and beverage service, not only to the 68th floor, but to all tenants of Scotia Plaza," said Andrew Oliver, president and CEO of O&B.

"From 0km food delivery to boardrooms for lunch-and-learns to full-service catering for cocktail receptions, this partnership represents real estate as a service," added Oliver.

"Tenants will be able to enjoy access to all of our amenities, as well as utilize the 68th floor as a best-in-class meeting space and an extension of their offices, to create memorable event and culinary experiences."

The decision to equip the top floor with a new event space is already paying off for KingSett, who have cited the forthcoming space as a factor in a major lease renewal for national law firm Miller Thomson LLP.

Kenneth R. Rosenstein, managing partner at Miller Thomson, said, "We're excited about the new, high-quality amenities and the benefits they will bring to our lawyers, support services, clients and prospective clients."
