ttc subway closure this weekend

TTC to close huge stretch of subway spanning over 10 km for this entire weekend

A massive stretch of the TTC's busiest transit line will be out of service for this entire weekend.

The transit agency has announced that subway service on Line 1 between Finch and St. Clair stations will be halted for the entire weekend of March 22-23, 2025.

The affected portion of subway line spanning approximately 10.5 kilometres will be served by shuttle buses during the two-day outage.

Finch, Sheppard-Yonge, York Mills, Eglinton, Davisville and St. Clair stations will remain open for passengers to purchase fares and connect with surface routes, though North York Centre and Lawrence stations will remain closed throughout the weekend.

Regular subway service will resume on Monday, March 24 in tme for the start of the morning rush at approximately 6 a.m.

The coming disruption, which the TTC has attributed to track work, marks just one of the 38 planned full-weekend closures that will affect portions of the subway in 2025 as the transit agency struggles to keep up with its repair backlog.

However, the TTC has been conducting track work along this stretch since Monday evening, as something as an appetizer for the disruption to follow on the weekend.

Commuters relying on this stretch can expect early closures from Monday, March 17 until Friday, March 21, with subway service shutting down at 11 p.m. each night and replacement shuttle buses in service until 2 a.m.
