If you're currently on the hunt for a new job, you'll be pleased to hear that the Government of Canada is hiring for dozens of well-paying jobs right here in Ontario.

While some of the roles require years of experience and specialized training, others are geared toward new graduates with less work experience.

Whether you're an expert in your field, or fresh out of school, odds are that you'll meet the qualifications for at least a handful of jobs with the federal government.

Here are some government jobs based in Ontario that are currently hiring and pay over $90,000.

Senior Writer, Corporate Planning

The Bank of Canada is looking for a qualified senior writer to join its corporate planning team to develop and communicate the bank's strategic plans, reports, and messaging. This position is based in Ottawa, and you'll need a bachelor's degree in English, journalism, or communications to qualify, as well as five or more years of experience in corporate communications or business writing.

Salaries are based on qualifications and experience but typically range from $121,842 to $143,344. Keep in mind that you must be bilingual in English and French to apply, and the closing date for this position is Nov. 24.

Senior Application Architect

Do you have a bachelor's degree in computer science or management information systems? If you do, you'll definitely want to keep this high-paying position on your radar. The Library of Parliament — which is the main information repository and research resource for the Parliament of Canada in Ottawa — is looking for a senior application architect to join their team.

To qualify, you might be bilingual in English and French, boast a minimum of three years experience as IM/IT application architect, as well as a minimum of three years experience in delivering IM/IT solutions.

The salary for this position ranges from $102,186 to $120,880 and the closing date to apply is Dec. 8.

Regional Railway Inspector, Infrastructure

If you have at least five years of experience working in the railway industry, then you'll most likely qualify for this position with Transport Canada in Toronto. Regional Railway Inspectors are responsible for monitoring railways to promote compliance as well as identifying and reducing risks.

Along with relevant work experience, you'll also need a secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education and experience. The salary for this role ranges from $97,453 to $114,404 and the deadline to apply is Dec. 31.

IT Analysts and IT Graduates

Are you an IT professional with an interest in cyber security? If you are, you might want to check out this job posting with the Canadian Security Intelligence Service in Ottawa. Salaries range from $93,581 to 113,833, and being bilingual is not a necessity.

Applicants with varying levels of experience are encouraged to apply, including graduates from a two-year program of study from a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization in computer science, information technology, engineering, network security, or cyber security.

Various positions are available, and the deadline to apply is Jan. 3, 2025.

Financial Advisor

The Senate of Canada in Ottawa is also on the hunt for a financial advisor, and if you boast a university degree with a specialization in accounting, finance, or business administration, then you may qualify. Applications must also boast a chartered professional accountant designation and years of experience in financial reporting, including the preparation of financial statements.

This job posting is definitely one of the more specialized positions on this list, but the successful applicant can expect to earn anywhere from $95,519 to $120,862 per year. Applications for this role must be submitted by Dec. 1.

Security Awareness Analyst

If you have a bachelor's degree in international relations, political science, security studies, criminology, or a related field, then you might want to check out this job posting that officially closes on Nov. 24. As a security awareness analyst, you'll be working with the Bank of Canada to support the development and delivery of the Corporate Security Awareness Program.

This position also requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience in the area of security threat analysis or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Salaries are fully based on qualifications and experience but typically range from $90,535 to $106,512. As with most government jobs, being English and French is also essential.
