Toronto's Joker is being trolled after getting busted by police while on TikTok live

Just as we had all forgotten about him, the offender who's become known as "Toronto's Joker" has wormed his way back into the news cycle after getting busted by what appears to be a SWAT team while filming himself for social media.

During what was allegedly a TikTok Live being shot from a garage full of junk, Michael Stamatakos was apprehended by officers decked out in full Special Weapons and Tactics garb, including helmets, vests and riot shields.

A one-minute clip making its rounds on social media Friday shows the 32-year-old — who gained minor local fame for his tattooed mugshot and the Canada-wide warrant that was out for his arrest last year — having a brief interaction with police before being handcuffed and whisked away.

The 5'5" man can be seen removing a shovel that was holding his garage door closed before assuming a position he should know well at this point, standing with his hands up in the air as the door rises.

"What the f*** man? What the f*** are you doing, bro?" he asks in an audibly flustered, high-pitched tone as he notices the firearms pointed directly at him.

He continues, "What the f*** did I do, bro? Come on, boys," as an officer instructs him to remain relaxed, put his hands on top of his head and stay still (which he does with a lit cigarette in his mouth).

Stamatakos repeatedly asks what he did as he is escorted to a police vehicle. Meanwhile, law enforcement is seen entering the garage and climbing over the mess to seize his camera and other evidence.

Some online are comparing the black-and-white footage to the scene where Edward Norton's character is arrested in American History X, but the majority of the responses are of derision more than anything else.

"Main character syndrome," one person wrote, while others simply called the perp "a loser."

A few also wondered the reason for the arrest, accusing someone of "swatting" the criminal — that is, calling the cops on them under false pretences. Others wondered how he was even out again after his multiple crimes, arrests and antics.

A spokesperson for the Toronto Police Service confirmed that Stamatakos was arrested by the force on Tuesday, July 9, and charged with "Unlawfully in Dwelling House" in Etobicoke.

"This means that he was in the act of unauthorized presence in someone else's residence," they said.

The GTA resident has proudly adopted his Joker epithet, using it for social media handles that he's posted from while on the run in the past, mocking police in their search for him.

He was initially wanted for multiple breaches of release while serving a two-year sentence for arson and damage to property, dangerous operation of a conveyance, flight from peace officer, uttering threats and possession of a Schedule I substance.

When police finally caught him in December after a two-month manhunt, they were criticized for taking so long to do so given his very visible and characteristic face tattoos inspired by The Joker from the DC Comics universe.
