Toronto agrees to discuss Ontario government takeover of the TTC

After months of working out a negotiation deal, the province might be set to upload the Toronto subway.

The news comes today via Jeff Yurek, Ontario's Transportation minister, who announced that infrastructure would now be in the hands of the province while day-to-day operations would still be handled by the city.

The province and the city worked out terms of reference, which will be used to guide the upload process.

This means that maintaining the current lines, as well as expansion projects or new lines, will be handled by the province.

So, good news for you, citizens of Pickering. If all stays true to Doug Ford's promises, you should be riding the Toronto subway system in no time.
