Toronto Police launch new mobile app

Did your house get tagged? Maybe someone damaged your car? You don't need to call 9-1-1 for these minor incidents, but now you can now file a report directly to the Toronto Police Service via the new TPS Mobile app.

The app offers safety tips, answers a myriad of questions and helps Torontonians locate police stations and collision centres. It can also notify users of community safety alerts. But, its most useful feature is likely its reporting capabilities.

"It gives the public an opportunity to report crime when it's convenient," said Constable Hugh Ferguson during a press conference this morning, according to the Toronto Star. The Star also noted that Texas company MobilePD developed the TPS app, which is formatted for both iPhones and Androids.

Would you use the Toronto Police Service Mobile app? Let us know in the comments.
