W Hotel rumoured to be coming to Toronto
The W Hotel brand might be on the way to Toronto. Long the source of speculation amongst the city's urban development nerds, the rumour mill has cranked up after Curbed got their hands on images that appear to indicate that Freed Developments has plans to bring the hotel to the Entertainment District. We previously heard that an existing Yorkville hotel was possible site for a Toronto W, though we haven't been able to confirm the location with any certainty.
Three years ago, there was also lots of talk about the hotel coming to Toronto. Back then the location was thought to be Temperance and Sheppard streets as part of a 54-storey development designed by Page + Steele / IBI Group Architects, but the project ultimately never came to be. That could, of course, also be the case this time, but you can bet the chatter is going to increase with the apparent affiliation with Freed.
