Kray Cafe
Kray Cafe is a dessert cafe specializing in Korean Bingsu and an array of delightful Korean street foods, established by the team behind Kosam.
Nestled in the heart of North York, its cozy atmosphere has the ideal setting for studying or catching up with friends after a satisfying dinner.
The predominant colour inside reflects the owner's favourite shade of grey, and the restaurant name is a fusion of the words "Korea" and "grey." Seating areas are situated on either side, separated by the cashier and production space at the centre.
The cafe's menu features both sweet and savoury pastries, with a highlight on their signature Bingsu, Dalgona coffee, and Bung-eo-ppang.
The hot Injeolmi Latte ($7.20) is a perfect beverage for the winter season. The toasty essence of soybean blends seamlessly with a velvety texture, enveloping your palate in a comforting hug.
The Blueberry Latte ($7.80) is a medley of sweet blueberry flavour and silky texture in a soft violet purple hue, all crowned with whipped cream and fresh blueberry garnish.
Adorned with crunchy honeycomb candy, their Dalgona Latte ($7.80) skillfully marries the robust notes of espresso with a notable caramel taste, striking a perfect balance without overwhelming sweetness.
Pistachio Bingsu ($14) bursts with nutty flavors, showcasing layers of pistachio mousse and scattered roasted pistachios to create a lovely interaction with the delicate shaved ice beneath.
Topped with brownie cubes, their Chocolate Bingsu ($14) is chocolatey in every spoonful, thanks to the dusting of cocoa powder, chocolate cream, and chocolate sauce drizzles.
The fish-shaped Bung-eo-ppang ($9.80 for two) are made with croissant pastry, which gives them a buttery and crisp outer layer.
Choose between flavours like sweet potato with cream cheese, Nutella and traditional red bean, or the innovative gooey pizza cheese.
Tteokkochi ($9) is a lightly fried Korean rice cake skewer brushed with sweet and tangy sauce, conveying a crispy exterior while retaining a pleasant chewiness within.
The irresistible savoury delights known as SO-Tteokso-Tteokkochi ($10) — a tempting combination of spicy rice cakes and mini sausages — are often found on the lively streets of Seoul.
Finally, indulge your sweet tooth with their Dalgona Ppopgi ($2) cookies, a classic sugar candy from Korea. You can either take them home or share the fun with friends. (Notably, these cookies were a major plot point in Netflix's Squid Game.)
Kray Cafe is located at 4850 Yonge St. Floor 2.
