Doc's Green Door Lounge

Doc's Green Door Lounge is a cocktail bar that is unapologetically adults-only, as articulated through the bar's coasters and merch available for sale.

A bit west of Keele in the Junction, this slick and retro Toronto bar is serving up flawless martinis, a variety of natural wines, and elevated small bites.

The space opened near the end of 2023 and is operated by Jayson Green, John Leddy, and Matt Malloy.

The space's design was intentional, crafted by Michael Vadino, featuring an assortment of vintage items throughout and custom made banquettes in the establishment's signature green.

While its clear the space is inclusionary, co-owner Jayson Green wanted to ensure the menu achieved that same vibe; "A bar that is for everyone."

With inclusivity in mind, the menu features cocktails, combos of a beer and a shot, creative mocktails, and a variety of wines. Truly a neighbourhood spot, anyone can find their drink of choice here.

If you're hoping to experiment or embellish, Doc's offers a 'build-your-own' martini menu where you can cater the drink to your taste, with the option to select any spirit and garnish.

The Old Fashioned features two kinds of rum and a coconut syrup adding a touch of sweetness, while the Negroni takes advantage of incorporating both sweet and dry vermouth to really elevate the classic.

Their head bartender, Nicholas Elliott, is responsible for the cocktail menu. He's been with the team from early on, after reaching out on Instagram expressing his interest in being part of the venture before they even opened.

The Junction ($13) is a fusion of complex flavours, incorporating pineapple juice with cucumber and lime, making for an incredibly refreshing and satisfying drink as the warmer months come.

If you were eyeing up the Espresso Martini, The Caffe Shakerato ($13) is an excellent alcohol-free substitute. A sweeter, coffee-based drink with a real kick, it's balanced beautifully with orange blossom water and tonic.

Doc's Spread ($15) is a unique and eye-catching arrival to the table. The gorgeous "Gorgonzola"-inspired Cashew Spread has an interesting bluey-green hue to it, and pairs perfectly with those nostalgic Ritz crackers.

Keep up the butter-y, spread goodness with the locally-made Chicken Liver Mousse ($18), served up with fresh sourdough slices.

docs green door loungeAnyone visiting Doc's should make sure to check out "The Deep End", a carefully curated natural wine shop in the back area of the bar.

Jayson Green, who previously worked in the wine industry in New York, makes sure to include wines at a variety of price points to make it accessible and everything they sell is organic and responsibly farmed.

docs green door loungeGreen dove headfirst into creating Doc's Green Door Lounge, inspired by the history of classic hotels and the comfort of "old-man" bars.

Picture recessed lighting in warm tones, curving plush banquets and a menu packed with staples. A space that was thoughtful, but not fussy.

Named after a nickname for Green's grandfather, you can spot a photo of him behind the bar above a special detail fondly called “Doc's Door.” Make sure not to miss this – they keep a special aged spirit on the other side.

docs green door loungeGreen's landlords, Leddy and Malloy, purchased the space and then asked Green if he wanted to develop it into a bar, knowing he had experience in the industry.

Even prior to its opening, Doc's Green Door Lounge was stirring up desire.

Though it might not be as central as you're typical cocktail bar, it's well worth the trek out west.
