Kream

Kream is Toronto's dessert cafe serving up some of the best stuffed croissant cubes in the city.

In fact, owner Joseph Doo spent nearly two years experimenting with recipes at home, initially as a way of making less sugary desserts for his son.kream toronto Impressed with the full-flavoured cream in Korea, Joseph and his wife Sora eventually opened their shop in early May 2023, bringing that same flavour (and some delicious desserts) to Toronto.

kream torontoWhile cream is the soul of the recipe, the name comes from the combo of "Korean" and "cream."

Putting a new twist on the classic French pastry, these croissants cubes (or "bomb"), are baked fresh every day and filled with homemade cream and custard without gelatine added.

kream torontoThe crossection as you cut into each croissant looks irresistible, thanks to their generous filling. What impressed me the most was the contrast between the airy filling with the slight sweetness of the crispy and fluffy croissant.

kream torontoThe team is constantly revising their menu, but already has a whole slew of tasty flavours on offer.

kream torontoThe fresh basil and cream cheese bomb ($5.50) is a surprising option —you might find that it tastes a bit like creamy pesto pasta.

kream torontoIf you’re looking for a prominent matcha flavour with subtle bitterness, their matcha bomb ($5.90) is for you.

kream torontoThe crème brûlée bomb ($5.90) is perfect for satisfying your craving for sweets, with thick and creamy custard filling and a touch of caramelized sugar on the top. kream torontoTheir tiramisu bomb ($5.90) has a distinct coffee flavour and is garnished with little white flowers that match with the shop's interior design.

kream torontoThe distinct citrusy scent of the yuza bomb ($5.50) offers a hint of bitterness from the yuza peels that's a delightful contrast to the buttery croissant, and seriously, I savoured every bite.

kream torontoMake sure to try at the pumpkin and cinnamon bomb ($5.90) that's made with pumpkin puree to welcome the fall season.

kream torontoAnother reason to visit Kream is for their iconic beverage, the Kream Spanner. Inspired by Viennese Einspänner, this layered drink is the dessert shop's interpretation of the creamy European beverage.

kream torontoUsing a milk and cream mixture as the base, the Kream Spanner is topped with whipped cream quenelle and drizzled with toppings.

kream torontoThe Valrhona Chocolate Kream Spanner ($6.50) on the other hand, offers up the bittersweet taste of rich chocolate milk, with little chunks of chocolate scattered throughout.

kream torontoIf you're looking for a more serious dessert option, their lovely case cakes ($8.90-$11.90) are made of layers of moist sponge cake, whipped cream and fresh fruit, keeping it simple (yet delightful).

kream torontoAt the front, you'll find a cute picture spot — the idea of Sora. The use of wooden furniture and the warm orange colour blends nicely with the lush, plant-laden interior design, creating a cozy atmosphere that's a contrast to the vibrant neighbourhood just outside.

kream torontoWhile menus and product descriptions are available at the cashier, you'll be hard-pressed to find any seating (but there are wall-hanging tables and small benches for you to savour the pastries).

There's also a semi-open production area if you wanna get a peek at the action, as well as display cases packed with croissant cubes and other desserts.

kream torontoYou'll find Kream at 526 Yonge St.
