Toronto is climbing the rankings among the best cities in the world to pursue a creative career.
As the cultural, economic and entertainment heart of Canada, it's no surprise that creatives gravitate towards Toronto to pursue a degree or seek out inspiration.
And according to a new study from print-on-demand company Printful, Toronto is now considered the seventh-best city in the world to pursue a creative bachelor's degree, with 68 different creative courses available in the city.
Toronto stands among impressive company on the ranking, sitting behind London, New York, Los Angeles, Sydney, Paris and Hong Kong in the seventh position on the top ten.
The city managed to outrank global creative centres like Rome in eighth place, Berlin in ninth place, and Dublin in 10th place.
In addition to cracking the top ten best cities to pursue a creative degree, Toronto also placed among the top 20 cities in the world for creative inspiration, with Printful compiling an impressive 194 creative events and 98 art galleries to visit in the city.
"Breaking into the creative industry isn't always easy. So many creatives are out there looking to immerse themselves in a culture full of artistic opportunity," said Agnese Bite, head of design at Printful.
"To truly take advantage of your creativity, engage with your surroundings: attend workshops and classes if you can, collaborate with local artists and participate in community art projects," said Bite.
She noted that cities named in the ranking offer the option to "regularly visit galleries and exhibitions to stay inspired by the latest trends and diverse artistic expressions."
"Exploring different neighbourhoods can also expose you to unique cultural influences and street art. By fully immersing yourself in these experiences, you can nurture your creativity and grow as an artist."
To determine these rankings, Printful created a list of 30 global cities and then used resources like TripAdvisor, WhichMuseum, BachelorsPortal, StreetArtCities and GetYourGuide to determine the number of theatres, galleries, museums, creative courses, street art pieces and events can be found in each place.
