Slam Season Enters Playoffs
Sure, the NBA finals this year were about as exciting as watching paint dry and the NHL finals had fewer viewers than the Food Network's 'Build A Better Burger', but if there's anything the Super Bowl and March Madness have taught us in recent history, it's that playoff season is exciting and exhilarating.
Which is why I'm going to guarantee â yes, I'm that confident â that this Saturday's semi-final team qualifier Toronto Poetry Slam is going to be this week's can't-miss event.
Not only will Saturday's slam assemble the twelve best spoken word artists in Toronto all competing for spots on the Toronto team for the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word, but the legendary Vancouver poet R.C. Weslowski will be the feature poet of the night, which is always a treat.
The Toronto Poetry Slam Team Qualifier Semi-Finals will take place this Saturday, June 23, at 8pm at Cervejaria. Visit torontopoetryslam.com for more information. I'll be playing timekeeper this month, so come and say hullo!
