Art Metropole Does Away with the Original
Perhaps I'm missing grad school a little bit these days, because my recent visit to Art Metropole had me musing about the referential constraints of language, the nature of the artistic original, and how the advent of mechanical reproduction allowed for the democratization of art. Believe or not, this flurry of mental activity was actually sparked by the intriguing mandate of this, one of Toronto's longstanding King West galleries, if indeed that's what it can be called.
