Wheels On The Danforth
Celebrating 5 Years of Family Friendly Fun for FREE!
Scarborough ON- For the past four years, Wheels on the Danforth has provided FREE family fun for all ages at the Crossroads on the Danforth, where Danforth Road and Danforth Avenue meet. On August 16th we will be proudly presenting our 5th annual family friendly festival where all proceeds are returned into the community. This year the event will also be raising money for the Hospital for SickKids.
The Crossroads of the Danforth BIA is a Not for Profit Organization that was established in 2008 as a City of Toronto BIA. It is the most eastern of the Danforth Avenue BIAs representing the businesses and property owners on Danforth Ave. between Victoria Park Avenue and Scotia Road (just east of Warden Avenue).
This year’s festival has something for everyone including car shows, music, food and lots of free family fun. Located in Oakridge Park will be our Free Kid’s Zone area. Enjoy a variety of free demonstrations including children’s and family programming throughout the afternoon while listening to the sounds of Pan Fantasy, a 30 piece steel drum band. There will be lots of bouncy castles and plenty of room for the kids to enjoy themselves in a safe environment. Foodies will enjoy the local restaurants that will be moving out into the street to serve a variety of great foods and for those who like to shop can browse a variety of vendors with lots of things to see and buy.
For car buffs, this year’s Car Show will host Classics, Exotics, Tuners, Muscle Cars, Hot Rods, and Motorcycles all lined up on the closed section of Danforth Road and Danforth Avenue. This is a professionally judged event with trophies and prizes.
On the Main Stage, families will enjoy a variety of musical entertainment by Big Bob Hammond & the Blus Brothers including their replica Blues Brothers Police Car. For those who love classic rock, Steven’s Garage and Little Peter & the Elegants will be getting their groove on. Moving into the evening, the music changes to reflect the flash and colour of the cars from the tuner world. EDM DJ’s and local artists will entertain until 11:00pm.
Gates open at 11:00am and will close at 11:00pm. For more information, please visit www.wheelsonthedanforth.com.
