Uma Nota's Worldwide Ting!
Uma Nota Culture welcomes our spring of ultra contentment ...
This is a worldwide ting,
Featuring:
Uproot Andy Qu Bajo records from NYC
Maracatu Mar Aberto Afro-Brazilian drums & song
General Eclectic resident selector
Uma Nota brings back the vibe of our old school parties, where we had a live percussion act together with a special guest DJ. Our guest DJ is none other than Uproot Andy: popular demand after the Uma Nota Festival has brought him back to Toronto for this special night. Fresh off a Mexican tour, where he did up a nearly one-hour mix special for Noisey Mexico that country's arm of the VICE music property, Uproot Andy continues the worldwide global bass takeover. This is all the roots music you love remixed to dance floor perfection.
As if that isn't enough, we are proud to represent Maracatu Mar Aberto with their spiritually ecstatic Afro-Brazilian drums and song. Mar Aberto is definitely the rawest and coolest drum group in Toronto. The last time they played Uma Nota in 2011, their live show was declared one of the best parties of the weekend by NOW magazine. They have only solidified their cutting-edge percussive sound.
Resident selector General Eclectic is renowned in the downtown core as the man who has styles upon styles. His crates go deep and when he is on the decks, the people only know how to dance. To top it off, this all goes down in a new venue with killer sound, Mojo Lounge on Dundas West near Dovercourt, an increasingly cultural vibrant strip for Toronto's debaucherous youth.
