The Big Pride Sing-Along
For the first time in North America, Toronto is hosting World Pride – and for the first time in Toronto, Singing Out brings you the Big Pride Sing-Along! Join Singing Out, Toronto’s LGBTQ chorus, on Saturday, June 28, at 7 pm and 9:15 pm for two shows at the Betty Oliphant Theatre (404 Jarvis Street in the Church-Wellesley Village) as we stage the Big Pride Sing-Along: Get Loud! Get Proud! Tickets are $15, available at www.singingout.com or in person at Out On the Street (551 Church Street). A limited number of tickets may also be available at the door, one hour before each performance.
Based on the Big Gay Sing, developed by the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus and performed by various queer choruses around the world, Singing Out’s Big Pride Sing-Along: Get Loud! Get Proud! will have audiences singing and dancing with our 110-voice choir to all the songs you love to sing. The Big Pride Sing-Along features Broadway favourites, led by the von Trapp kids as you’ve never seen them before; Madonna and Lady Gaga going head to head in a mash-up/smackdown you won’t forget; drag king Mounties taking you on a musical ride around queer Canada; and different divas to dazzle and delight. And the anthems the LGBTQ community loves will have you begging us not to “leave you this way!”
Hosted by the inimitable Deb Pearce (host of OUTtv’s “Bump!”), accompanied by the female-fronted R&B band The Reenies, and led by Singing Out Artistic Director Jody Malone, with special guests, you won’t want to miss the Big Pride Sing-Along!
***TWO PERFORMANCES: 7:00PM, and 9:15PM on June 28, 2014. *** Presented by Singing Out, as a WorldPride 2014 - Toronto affiliated organization.
