Tell Me Something Good: February Storytelling Slam - 1 Year Anniversary and Podcast Launch
February's Tell Me Something Good is a big one! Not only are we celebrating our 1 year anniversary, we're also launching our podcast! We wanted to show you how much we appreciate you for being such a supportive and open community, so we have a few special things planned:
Harley Payne will be starting us off with a very sexy burlesque routine. Then, comedian Aisha Alfa will be doing a hilarious standup act. Friend of TMSG and triple first prize winner Wil McLean will be showing us yet another facet of his abilities by hosting some post-show karaoke! We'll also be serving a special signature cocktail so that you can drink something good AND get up the courage to tell your story and/or belt it out!
Our theme for this very special edition of Tell Me Something Good is LOVE! Sure, we're likely to be talking about romantic love since it's almost Valentine's Day, but you can love friends, your community, your vibrator, your pet just not like that!... Some times love lifts us up where we belong, and other times, it stinks! Whether you love to love or you think cupid is stupid, we want to hear your stories of unrequited love, schoolyard crushes, awkward professions of feelings, Valentine's Day highs and lows, moments of realization, expressions of self-love... Well, you get the picture.
How it works for Interested Storytellers:
Slip your name into our box HEYO! and we'll pick up to 10-15 storytellers for slots of up to 5 minutes each. There are points for engaging with the audience so don't just read the whole thing with your head down, though you ARE allowed to bring on paper and, most importantly, it must be true!
Samantha Fraser @nympsam and Sophie Delancey @sophiedelancey are your lovely co-hosts every month for your storytelling pleasure. Tell Me Something Good @TellMeToronto is your opportunity to share short stories of sexual glory, gaffes, and growth for the chance to win sexy prizes, or if you'd rather not share, feel free to just sit back and be entertained, while cheering on the brave souls who get up on stage.
We'll have an esteemed panel of judges who will start the night off with a few of their own stories and then rank each entry to choose our winners at the end of the night. Our top storytellers get prizes every time.
Our Judges for February:
Harley Payne
Aisha Alfa
Wil McLean
Important note: We're striving to make this a safer event. We will not tolerate homophobia, racism, transphobia, ablism, agism, misogyny, whorephobia, slut shaming, fat-phobia, or any other jerky behaviour or language. Don't yuck someone else's yum! Please make sure that your stories are respectful so that everyone can feel included and have a good time! In the words of Samantha's first crush, Wil Wheaton: don't be a dick!
