Two acts come representing Amok Recordings , the One family, and jefftheworld, and we're excited to hear them!
the One family are b. burroughs & Justin Scott Gray, a local married couple who have been releasing their experimental, electronic, avant garde sound art through their self run label Amok Recordings since 2006. They are releasing a split 12" this year with label-mate, Ross Wallace Chait. http://www.theonefamily.ca/
Heavy basslines, frantic rhythms and airy leads. With an arsenal of antiquated hardware and software - Game Boys, Atari computers, DOS software - coupled with cutting edge and homebrew technology - Kaoss Pads, circuit-bent keyboards, Guitar Hero controllers - jefftheworld pumps out some seriously fun music.
An avid gamer, programmer, hacker and DIY fantatic, Jeff "jefftheworld" Alyanak grew up as the son of a music studio owning father and a singer/songwriter mother, so it's no surprise that he put all of those elements together and began using his old Game Boys & Nintendos to make crazy chip music. http://jefftheworld.com/
Dan Epstein will once again bestow his wisdom upon us, the speaker of hard truths and soft lies.
Join us for this episode in the ongoing search for genre-defying, boundary-pushing music and other hidden gems in the heart of the city. The 1st Sunday of each month, focusing on live eclectic, electronic, ambient, drowsy beats, loose bytes, droney feats, psychic lights, live visuals, noisy tangents, artful dodging.
