Nebyu Yohannes Group & the science of what ?
Nebyu Yohannes, young trombonist and composer, presents the beginning of a new group, NYG. All songs, written or arranged by Yohannes, draws on his musical influences such as: Brian Blade and the Fellowship Band, John Coltrane, Knxwledge, and Fiona Apple, offering a refreshing blend of contemporary jazz and alternative pop. NYG promotes cathartic music; we wish to draw out emotional tensions and alleviate the listener through a musical soundscape.
The group features Matt Lagan (saxophone), Deniz Lim-Sersan(piano), Abby David (bass), Alfie Vienneau (drums), and Caitlin Comeau-Jarvis (vocals).
the science of what ? is a contemporary music duo that attempts to bridge the divide between their influences, which are far-ranging as björk , elliott smith and paul motian. using various instruments - including prepared electric guitar, tibetan singing bowl, ipad, and extended vocal techniques - they explore the relation between the old and the new, & technology and nature.
