Lisa LeBlanc
New Brunswick native Lisa LeBlanc’s irresistible charm lies in her unique “folk-trash” style, which has garnered critical acclaim and awards in Quebec, France and Belgium, 140,000 record sales on two continents, and a JUNO nomination and platinum sales for her self-titled 2012 debut. The bilingual banjo-wielding folk rocker returns to Toronto in the wake of the release of her third album – her first primarily English-language record – Why You Wanna Leave, Runaway Queen?, which inspired by old-time jams, cajun and bluegrass. As we’ve seen in previous presentations at the Drake Underground, and as part of Live at Massey Hall when she appeared alongside Spirit of the West, LeBlanc’s live shows are high-energy adventures through not only deep-cut folk tunes and the occasional heavy metal interpretation, but a collection of Americana-by-way-of-Acadia original material.
