Johnnyland's One Year Anniversary
Johnnyland will forever be remembered as the greatest all ages live show I have ever been to Alex Spears, drummer of Kibosh.
To most Johnnyland is just a word but to me it describes one of the best nights of my life Lucas Izzy Tennan, front man of The Watts.
Quotes taken from Johnnyland's first official event which took place March 1st, 2013, last year at The Annex Live.
Now, after a year of incredible support from our awesome growing community, we want to CELEBRATE!
A big thank you to The Opera House for having us back, and we'll see you all there!
LINE UP:
We almost have the full cast line up from the original show last year, as this line up features all but 3 acts from last year's event, who are being replaced by some great bands, including some new friends, and some that have been affiliated with us from the beginning:
7:30pm Last year, Annie Dorrett Music opened for the first ever Johnnyland. This year, we have our great friend Alexandra taking the stage at 7:30pm, bringing her soulful and engaging acoustic sound to serenade you all. She's been performing at Johnnyland events since May, 2013, our community would not be as strong without her!
8:00pm Columbo:
Replacing the band Kibosh will be our favourite Orangeville rockers Columbo! Columbo will rock your socks off. Literally, as they're famous for performing shoeless and barefoot throughout their playing career. Get ready for some energetic and sometimes psychedelic rock 'n roll!
Check out their latest EP "Mercury Whisps" here: http://columbotheband.bandcamp.com/
8:45pm The Watts:
Get ready for some more Rock 'N Roll guitar shredding as The Watts are reuniting for a tribute to last year's original show. With a whole lot of Led Zeppelin influenced in a high octane, riff heavy sound, this will be a comeback performance you would not want to miss! Check out their sound here: https://soundcloud.com/the-watts-band
9:30pm Ghost Daze:
Replacing The Bill Jones Project who we will sadly miss, as they cannot perform this year, is the ultimate Toronto garage rock band Ghost Daze. They have an energy like no other, from lead singer Emmett S Webb's care free singing style, to their surf rock-garage rock instrumentals, Ghost Daze always hits you with the urge to forget about everything and mosh. Check out their hard hitting EP here: ghostdaze.bandcamp.com
10:15 pm: Post:
Taking the spot of Creep Creep Beach, who's presence will be missed, is the one and only Post! Great friends in Johnnyland's community, Post first played a Johnnyland show last May, at The Battle For Johnnyland, when we were being presented by Toronto Artist Collective. With their catchy alternative rock sounds and gripping song writing, Post will bring the heat. Check out their latest EP here: http://postbandmusic.bandcamp.com/
11pm: Professor H & The Bandits :
Interestingly enough, without Professor H & The Bandits, Johnnyland wouldn't have existed; while being given an opportunity to curate any sort of event at a caf, Johnnyland's founder realized that his brother, Dov Lev pianist and singer was in a band, and so Johnnyland was born. With a captivating stage presence as if becoming possessed by the Rock 'N Roll gods, front man Joachim Comay-Newman and the band set a stage for what Johnnyland is all about, an ultimate euphoric musical experience. Check out their classic tune "When Limbs Die" Here: https://soundcloud.com/dandandl/when-limbs-die
11:45pm: Ferraro:
Winners of the aforementioned "Battle For Johnnyland" last May 31st, Ferraro is taking the spot of The Rock & Roll Space Bandits, who ended the night off at the original Johnnyland show. Ferraro packs a retro yet modern 50's Rock sound with a blues-y undertone. Ferraro will bring on an upbeat dancing surge as they unleash riffs and cries of pure Rock and Roll bliss.
