LYON
Lauren Malyon AKA Lyon is a small town girl who fell in love with the big city. Lauren began playing violin at the age of 3, piano at the age of 6, began songwriting at the age of 15 and in the summer of 2012, she teamed up with writer/producer/programmer, Japeth Maw and created Lyon.
Described as innocence meets disillusionment and disillusionment meets hope, Lyon's first single and title track off of her forthcoming debut EP, Indian Summer, is electronic music with a human soul made by the girl next door who has a secret. It wants to say that sometimes you can't keep the one you have. Sometimes you can't play out the movie inside your head. In the world of Lyon, things don't happen for a reason but they do naturally and beautifully fall into place.
PARALLELS
Canadian electronic-pop trio, PARALLELS, conjures classic pop sentiments of neon nights with songs that transport the past into a modern context, just as grey fades into colour on Poloroid film. Echos of this can be heard in the soundtrack of 2013 Oscar winning short-film Curfew featuring Parallels song, Dry Blood off of their debut album Visionaries. Dodson, and her brother, drummer, Nick Dodson along with keyboardist Artem Galperine are currently back in Marigold Studios in Toronto recording their third full length release.
Since the bands inception in 2008, Parallels has toured extensively covering thousands of miles bringing their collection of vintage synthesizers and lively HI-NRG rhythms from Toronto to LA, Moscow to Miami, New York to San Francisco and everywhere in between. After a whirlwind 36-date North American tour in 2013, Parallels was chosen by NXNE as one of the top 15 Alternative Artists to see at the annual festival in Toronto. The band has also been an electric presence at CMJ, CMW and El Pasos Neon Desert Music Festival, and has shared billing with internationally-acclaimed artists such as Florence the Machine, Crystal Castles, A-Trak, Glass Candy, The Juan Maclean and Broken Social Scene.
