Fancy Videogame Party

Ready to see the AGO transformed into a multi-story playground? For its fifth birthday, Toronto videogame arts organization The Hand Eye Society is teaming up with London England's game party roughhousers, The Wild Rumpus. Together they will bring you the very best multi-player, party, and physical videogames from around the world for one night only at the AGO. Part arcade, part club night, part art gallery... part something you've never seen before. In conjunction with Artist in Residence Jim Munroe’s videogame culture installation in the AGO's Community Gallery.

Founded in Toronto in 2009, The Hand Eye Society is a videogame arts organization that helps people make games, connects game makers with each other and with audiences offline, and fosters diversity in game creation and public perception of games. Recent projects include Comics VS Games, the TORONTRON Indie Arcade Cabinets, the Difference Engine Initiative, and a variety of member-powered exhibitions and educational programs.

The Wild Rumpus brings together the best of indie mutliplayer videogames for the most unique events of crazy, exuberant, social and sometimes physical gameplay. Their line ups turn conventional videogame culture on its head. Closer in spirit to party, playground, or even drinking games, these are all games that you can’t play at home on your own. The Wild Rumpus offers a chance to experience some of the most fantastically eclectic and creative videogames that most people never even knew existed.
