CROWDED KINGDOM by ANSER
Anser’s first major exhibit in over six years, Crowded Kingdom, brings together a new collection of the iconic face. By exploring new mediums and taking what has been created in the streets of Toronto, he builds on the nuances of urban encounters within the space of #Hashtag Gallery.
These portraits engage a typically ignored public and straddle the lines between graffiti and street art. The face reflects the many faces of the city, the repetition and groupings parallel the density of urban spaces and “Crowded Kingdom” references the enigmatic and mystical aura the face has taken on over the years. Re-invented across various mediums, it becomes more than a face, but a departure point for exploration and connection.
