Cosmopolis Toronto
Toronto is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world. More than half of its 3 million inhabitants are born outside of Canada.
But what makes Toronto home?
The answer is as diverse as we are. The places where people in the city find comfort – find home – are clear statements of our diversity. From a chef’s kitchen to the prayer floor in a local mosque, each location is distinct. The objects photographed help to tell the story of where each individual began their journey. From favourite food to family photos, these objects are tangible connections to the past and intimate reminders of who we are.
The Toronto Centre for the Arts presents "Cosmopolis Toronto", an exhibition featuring the works of Colin Boyd Shafer and curated by Vanessa Tamburro.
Exhibition Dates: January 15 – February 22, 2014
Opening Reception: January 17, 2014 from 7 – 9 PM. RSVP by January 13 at cosmopolisto@gmail.com or on Facebook.
