Our most ambitious and creative event to date join us for an electrifying performance featuring three compositions by the 2013 Jules Lger Prize winning Montreal composer performed by the Music in the Barns Chamber Ensemble and Toronto new music champions the Array Ensemble. Channeling Lize's compositional inspirations from rave culture post-punk and 1960s psychedelia this not-to-be-missed music experience also incorporates her signature "notated" turntables and vintage electronic instruments.
Huge surround projections will showcase the evening's crown jewel Lizees Hitchcock Etudes a reworking of Hitchcock's iconic movie moments set the world premiere of Lizee's new version of the piece for string quartet percussion and electronics. The performance also features Lizes Kronos Quartet commissioned string quartet Death to Komische and Array Ensemble's performance of their 2011 commission Lize's multi-instrumental ensemble work Traumnovelle.
In conjunction with the University of Torontos Centre for Drama Theatre and Performance Studies Lizee will be appearing at 2PM as a featured speaker for their Friday Chat Series leading up to the evenings performance.
