BIGGER AND BETTER MAC AND CHEESE FESTIVAL RETURNS TO TORONTO JUNE 3-5, 2016
The second annual Mac and Cheese Festival is returning to Toronto June 3, 4 and 5, taking over Ontario Place West Island, after a five-year closure. This year, the festival will feature over 75 food, drink and artisanal vendors; 40 of which include Toronto’s top chefs, savvy cooks and food entrepreneurs, competing to make the city’s best mac and cheese. Free to the public, the Mac and Cheese Festival is offering attendees a bigger and better event.
The event is taking over 600,000 square feet of event space, expecting over 65,000 attendees from across the GTA. Exciting independent food and beverage collaborations from top purveyors in the city are expected. In addition, VIP packages are available, which will allow ticket holders an exclusive experience.
New to 2016, the Mac and Cheese Festival has added a Craft Beer and Cider Bay, Carnival Corner, Food Truck Island, Artisanal Market, Dairy Farmers of Canada and Metro Cooking Stage, more live entertainment and a Guinness World Record attempt to create a 2,500 pound bowl of mac and cheese. Prizes for the top tier mac and cheese dish include “Best of Fest,” with a $5,000 cash prize, in addition to the “Judge’s Choice” and “People’s Choice” awards, with prizes of a free booth for 2017.
Event organizers have chosen to donate a percentage of profits raised to the National Wildlife Rehabilitation Foundation; the first organization in Canada created solely to fund wildlife rescue organizations in the care, raising and release of orphaned and injured wildlife
