Bad Movie Night Toronto presents MIAMI CONNECTION
It's Bad Movie Night Toronto's 3 year anniversary and that means we need to celebrate with a truly special screening - a film that's the bad movie equivalent of a fine vintage wine. That's why we're showing MIAMI CONNECTION, a 1980s action flick that is so 80s, you are guaranteed to grow a neon-coloured mullet just from watching it.
The plot itself is amazing: it boils down to a battle of good vs. evil between Dragon Sound (an awe-inspiring synth rock band composed of Tae Kwon Do masters) and a gang of cocaine-dealing motorcycle ninjas! But what really makes this movie shine is its performances, because there's nary a professional actor in sight. MIAMI CONNECTION stars real-life Tae Kwon Do grandmaster Y. K. Kim, and the rest of its roles are filled out almost entirely by students from the martial arts studios he owned. The icing on the cake is that the songs in this movie are way more catchy than they have any right to be, and you'll probably be singing "Against the Ninja" and "Friends (Forever)" for weeks to come.
