The Canadian Art Foundation’s Reel Artists Film Festival (RAFF) returns, in its 11th year, with a tightly curated selection of international documentary films about visual art and artists. This year’s Opening Night Screening & Celebration features the exclusive international premiere of the film Kehinde Wiley: An Economy of Grace, which documents the inspiration and process behind New York-based painter Kehinde Wiley’s recent portraits of African American women. The models are women Wiley chose from the streets of New York City, and the clothes are couture from Givenchy, raising questions of patronage, art history and gender.

ABOUT CANADIAN ART FOUNDATION
Since its establishment in 1991, the Canadian Art Foundation has worked to advance the knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the visual arts in Canada through many channels: by publishing Canadian Art magazine, by establishing canadianart.ca, by creating Canadian Art in tablet form and by providing educational, provocative and lively opportunities for audiences to engage with artists and their work.
