Woodhands Video Makes it in Motionographer

woodhands i wasnt made for fighting video If you're an avid fan of motion graphics and animated sequences, Motionographer.com is probably on your blog roll, and if not, it should be.

In the past two years, Motionographer has grown to be one of the best online sources for motion graphic work. From high-end to student-based work, you can surely find some inspiration there any day of the week. As a result, the site has evolved into a great community for artists and enthusiasts in the animation/motion-graphic industry.

A few days ago, Toronto's own Woodhands were featured with their new video for I Wasn't Made For Fighting, one of my favourtie songs from their album Heart Attack.

No Love for The Glimmers in TO

the glimmersWhaaa happened?

Last night I went to Wrongbar to check out The Glimmers who I wrote about a couple days ago.

Got there around 11pm to surprisingly find the bar literally empty. So my friends and I decided to go down the street to the Rhino for a couple of drinks till things picked up.

An hour later we came back to find the place with maybe 20 people tops, and as the night progressed, only a few more people showed up.

The Glimmers Share Their Music at Wrongbar This Thursday

the glimmersBelgium's finest, The Glimmers, are back in town this Thursday September 25th to properly pimp their latest album Gee Gee Fazzi.

The Glimmers have been DJing for over 20 years, and have released plenty of great mixed records and compilations under Eskimo collections, Culture Club series, DJ Kicks and Fabric Live mixes.

They have always stayed authentic by playing the music that they like without following trends. Something that at times has pushed them to the side corners in the music world.

MANSION debuts at Sport Pig this Friday

Sometimes the best thing about partying is going out for Chinese food after.

In January 2006 Pink Mafia had the great idea of combining both into one of their trademark parties, Sport Pig.

The Bright Pearl was pounding with great beats while delicious dim sum aroma was floating around the room, making that night one of the most memorable parties in the last few years.

In 2007 the magic was repeated while plenty of white snow was falling outside.

This Friday September 26, after a year on hiatus, Sport Pig returns to Chinatown, sporting an all-proud all-Toronto lineup including the official debut of MANSION.

The New Deal live recording at Lee's Palace this Saturday

Toronto's own The New Deal made a big impact in the late 90's when they released their debut album 'This is Live'. The album was recorded on cassette tapes by the sound guy at the Comfort Zone, and after the band heard the recordings it became very clear to them they were doing something right.

In a time when everything was going electronic to the max, The New Deal brought back the human element to live electronic performance, captivating audiences and building a strong fan base all around the world.

Abraham Inc. at Harbourfront's Ashkenaz Festival

abraham inc ashkenaz festival at harbourfront.jpgOy Vey! I can't believe this weekend will be the final festival of Harbourfront's summer World Routes series! I have to give kudos to all the organizers for doing such an amazing job this year.

To close it proper, Ashkenaz Festival, a celebration of Yiddish and Jewish culture, will ensure (like a good Yiddishe Mama) that you get enough culture and food that will last you all winter long.

The Ashkenaz Festival is one of the world's largest public celebrations of Yiddish and Jewish culture. The festival brings a full spectrum of multidisciplinary artists/groups in music, dance, theatre, literature, visual arts, food and craft from all around the globe.

But what I'm most excited about at this festival is the Canadian premier of Abraham Inc., a unique band featuring the titanic trio of klezmer clarinet master David Krakauer, legendary funk trombonist Fred Wesley (formerly with James Brown's band) and Canada's own Yiddish Hip-Hop star So-Called.
