Lavish luxury hotel to open in 105-storey Toronto megatower in 2025

Canada's new tallest building rising in Toronto will also be home to the country's only Le Meridien hotel.

The enormous SkyTower project rising toward a sky-scraping height of 105 storeys as part of Vancouver developer Pinnacle International's One Yonge complex is set to feature a luxury hotel component, bringing Marriott International's Le Meridien brand to Canada for the first time in over 30 years.

The Le Meridien Pinnacle Toronto Hotel is set to open in the lower levels of the record-breaking SkyTower next year.

Signage for the new luxury accommodation was first spotted at the base of the rising tower this fall, months after an April submission with City planners that shed new light on the hotel planned for Canada's tallest building.

Le Meridien Pinnacle Toronto Hotel will occupy approximately 17,000 square metres, taking up the first dozen floors of the new skyscraper.

A teaser website for the forthcoming hospitality property boasts of "chic accommodations [...]  featuring beautifully designed rooms and suites with stunning city views and modern amenities" and promises "exquisite dining options, from casual bites to fine dining, crafted by our renowned chefs."

Among the amenities that will be on offer at Le Meridien Pinnacle Toronto Hotel, guests can expect complimentary Wi-Fi, a fitness centre, business centre, a swimming pool, concierge services, meeting and event spaces, spa services, on-site restaurants, lounge access and complimentary breakfast.

The hotel will put guests just steps from several transit connections at Union Station, though the facility is also set to offer shuttle service along with on-site parking.

Aside from the prestige of being located in what will be the tallest building in the country, the location would also be the only Le Meridien in Canada.

However, it won't have the distinction of being the country's first.

The brand may still be familiar to locals who have kept track of the local hospitality scene over the past decade and a half. The current Omni King Edward Hotel was previously known under the Le Meridien branding from 1994 to 2012 before a change in ownership resulted in the brand's exit from Canada.

The new hotel will mark the 25th Le Meridien in North America and the 120th location worldwide.

Pinnacle has long planned a hotel component for the One Yonge complex, introducing an aborted 534-suite hotel behind and above an enlarged Toronto Star Building.

Updated plans for the site have scrapped this tower and the Toronto Star Building entirely, and a hotel is now a major component of the tallest tower in the development.

An opening is currently expected for Fall 2025, though this may be an optimistic estimate given the building's current construction progress as of December 2024.

With under one year to go before this anticipated opening, the tower now stands roughly 50 per cent of the way toward its final height of just over 345 metres.

blogTO has reached out to Pinnacle International and Marriott International seeking further comment on the hotel's opening timeline.
